Childhood obesity is a nationwide epidemic, and Martial Arts Master Ron Tramontano believes that a parent with a
personality can change that. He offers It’s Not a DIET, It’s a SAVE-it, a parent/child resource on weight loss
for children. "Parents are dealing with an enemy that
relentlessly pursues their children every day," says Martial Arts Master Ron Tramontano. "Obesity threatens the
health of our children, who lead increasingly sedentary lives." Master
Tramontano warns, "If a real, live person were after your family, determined to give them a life-threatening disease,
I do not believe you would stand by and let it happen. All it takes to make a difference in the life of an obese child is
a parent with a personality." It’s Not a DIET, It’s a SAVE-it offers Master Tramontano’s tried-and-true
strategy for weight loss. Included for adults: * How to
approach the idea of weight loss with your child, * Explaining
the SAVE-it Weight Loss Program in a way that will excite your child, * How to motivate any child, * What to do before
you talk to your child, * How to talk to your child, * What to do after you talk to your child, * A plan to celebrate your child’s success, * The Martial Arts as a catalyst for change and motivation for your children, and * The tenets of Tang Soo Do. Instructions
are included for both younger and older children. Young children are encouraged to contact Master Tramontano (with parental
permission, of course). Older children and teens are taught proven motivational techniques from the Martial Arts form known
as Tang Soo Do. Includes "Recommended Books and Websites" for both parents
and children. Master Ron Tramontano tested in the 75 Dan
testing and received his Dan rank from Grand Master Hwang Kee. He formed West Boca Karate, a Tang Soo Do studio in Boca Raton,
Florida, in June of 1986, which instructs over 800 students and 160 Black Belts a week. Master Tramontano is also Chairman and Founder of the North American Tang Soo Do Federation (NATSDF) and co-creator

For caring parents with media concerns. Virtually all parents believe that “other kids may be influenced
by the media, but my kid isn’t.” However, up until about the age of eight, kids are not able to distinguish between
fantasy and reality. So they actually don’t know the difference between real life and what they see, hear and learn
on TV, radio, video games and the Internet. “Mary
Larson delivers on the title’s promise—What Parents Need to Know. Her book is easy to read, based on solid research,
and filled with practical suggestions you can use today. This is a great resource for the 21st century parent.” —David
Walsh, Ph.D., founder of the National Institute on Media and the Family, author of No. Why Kids of All Ages Need to Hear
It and Ways Parents Can Say It
Watch
It! highlights the likely consequences of kids consuming television and other media without adult intervention. It provides
“What You Can Do” strategies at the end of each chapter to help parents intervene and reduce some of the media’s
problematic impacts on children. Chapters include: *

Life in Television Families * Sex and the City, and the Burbs and the Boonies: What the Media Teaches About Dating and Sex * "Don’t Try This At Home!": The Media, Violence and Aggression * Friends — Cute Anorexic Chicks*: Health Issues and the Media * Has Anything Changed Since Charlie’s Angels, Amos ’n’
Andy or Chico and the Man? Media Stereotypes * Why Ernie Doesn’t Read: The Media and Your Child’s Brain * "We’ve Gotta Have It Now!" Commercials and Consumerism * Hit Men and Hookers: Video Games in Your Child’s Life * Porn and Pedophilia: Stops on the Information Superhighway * Taming the Beast: Becoming Media Literate

A self-help parenting book, Building Character Skills
in the Out-of-Control Child helps parents understand the role of character development in a child’s personal growth.
It details behaviors of character-immature children and provides proven remedies. Dr.
Partridge’s extensive experience and research have revealed that the source of immature character development is in
giving children too much comfort, and in allowing them too much control and power. He believes that the character
disorders that result from an unchecked immature character development claim nearly ten percent of our children. These kids
are destructive to themselves, their families, classmates and communities. Included
in Building Character Skills in the Out-of-Control Child: *
How Inaccurate Diagnoses Fail Children and Their Families * The Importance
of Character Skills, Competence and Lasting Self-Esteem * How Character
Skills Differ from Moral/Religious Values * How to Recognize the
Signs of Immature Character Development * The "Four Cornerstones"
of Character Development * How and When the Seeds of Immature Character
Development Are Sown * The Importance of Balance in Character Development
* When and How to Re-balance, Set Limits and Take Action * Frantic Limit-Testing, Hyperactivity and Medications * How to Avoid Destructive Compassion with Disabled Children *
Immature Character Development and Substance Abuse in Teens * The
Effect of Immature Character Development on the Classroom * Distinguishing
Between Learning Disabilities and Character Flaws * School Strategies
That Work — for Parents and Teachers Complete with resources, recommended reading, additional reading and an index. Dr. Partridge identified himself as a clinical/developmental/social scientist.
He received his Ph.D. from Purdue University with post-doctoral experience in child development at Stanford Children’s
Health Council. During his long career as a specialist in children’s behavior disorders, Dr. Partridge consulted to
school districts and agencies of the State of California. He has also been a consultant to the U.S. Department of Defense
in Europe in behalf of families with children having special needs. More
recently, consultation and clinical practice in the San Francisco Bay area combined differential diagnosis of behavioral and
learning disorders with special focus on central nervous system disabilities. Private practice efforts continued with families
and schools in behalf of children with motivational, social and behavioral immaturity. Later
professional involvement took Dr. Partridge to Monterey, California, as director of the "Character Skills" demonstration
project funded by a Harden Foundation grant. This program has demonstrated that with early identification and intervention,
teaching parents critical child guidance and training skills, primary school children can be turned from character immaturity
to character development. Indeed, 84 percent success was attained (in changing school behavior and effort) in two months,
with overall success above 90 percent. Buy Building Character Skills in the Out-of-Control Child from

A practical, realistic and easy-to-understand
resource to help parents deal with out-of-control adolescents’ frustrating behaviors — behaviors that can leave
even the most experienced parents "whipped." It is written in everyday language, with humor and hope. Provides answers
to help parents meet the challenge of raising an out-of-control teen. From the book— Out-of-control teens
include those who are described by mental health professionals as being oppositional-defiant and conduct disordered.
Oppositional-defiant kids are negative,
defiant, disobedient and hostile toward authority figures. They lose their tempers, argue and refuse to comply with the requests
of parents, teachers, therapists, even the local librarian. Any adult who tries to set a limit is fair game. This type of
adolescent is often angry, resentful, spiteful and vindictive. They deliberately annoy people and blame others for their poor
choices and negative behavior. Conduct disordered
kids are all of the above and then some. They engage in severely dangerous and illegal behaviors. They are often the school
bullies, threatening peers and adults. They fight, carry weapons and do drugs. They lie, steal, set fires and deliberately
destroy other people’s property. They are often truant from school, stay out past curfew and run away from home, despite
their parents’ efforts to stop them. These teens consistently and seriously violate the rules and laws of society. The Whipped Parent can help parents of oppositional-defiant and conduct disordered adolescents find ways to stay
centered while dealing correctly with school and court authorities. The authors do not believe in using boot camps as a tool
to "control" bad behavior. Includes appendixes, worksheets for parents, suggested reading and an index. Kimberly Abraham is a certified social worker and private therapist
who resides in Flushing, Michigan. Ms. Abraham received her MSW from Wayne State University. She has been in the mental health
field nearly a decade, and she specializes in adolescent and family therapy. Her work with inner-city youth in Flint, Michigan,
resulted in the Genesee County Juvenile Court System ordering many juvenile delinquents and their parents to attend groups
developed by Ms. Abraham. She has survived raising her own oppositional-defiant adolescent. Marney Studaker-Cordner is a private clinician and makes
her home in Lapeer, Michigan. She received her MSW from Michigan State University, and she is a certified social worker in
the state of Michigan. Ms. Studaker-Cordner specializes in child and adolescent therapy, and she has spent years working with
clients in the foster care and community mental health systems, within an urban setting. She is raising an adolescent and
a toddler. Kathryn O’Dea was an ordained minister and an experienced
parent who developed unique parenting skills to handle oppositional-defiant behaviors. Her undergraduate background was in
English, and writing literature was both her hobby and passion. Buy The
